1.                     Approve the use of $60,000 from the Emergency Communications Center Radio Fund Balance to replace lightning strike damaged equipment at the Pointe Building Allied Radio Matrix for Emergency Response Radio site.

2.                     Authorize the County Manager to establish an Emergency Communications Pointe Building Lightning Strike Equipment Replacement project account.

3.                     Authorize the County Manager to enter into agreements and execute amendments to the agreement in accordance with the county’s procurement policies and procedures, provide the amounts are within the limits of available funding.

Background and Rationale

Request for replacement of critical Allied Radio Matrix for Emergency Response (ARMER) radio site components that were recently damaged by a lightning strike at the Pointe Building ARMER radio site.

Multiple key components for the radio tower located at Pointe Building were all damaged. Emergency Communication Center (ECC) Techs have been able to make adjustments to keep the site online but would like to expedite getting these items replaced as soon as possible to ensure this mission critical radio site remains operational. Repairing the site is a best practice that has changed since the site was built to ensure maximum resiliency of the radio site.

Fiscal Impact

Radio Fund Balance is currently $1,096,788 which will cover the $60,000 request for the Pointe Radio Tower Repair. The radio fund balance was intentionally established to cover unpredictable costs of ARMER radio equipment projects.
