Background and Rationale

The Red Rock Corridor Commission is comprised of seven members representing the counties and communities within the corridor. The Red Rock Corridor Commission is committed to advancing transit options and transit supportive development in the Highway 61 Corridor with the help of our agency and community partners.
The Red Rock Corridor is a proposed 20-mile transitway, connecting the Twin Cities’ southeastern suburbs to Saint Paul and Minneapolis. The transitway will originate in Hastings and stop in Cottage Grove, Newport and Saint Paul’s Battle Creek neighborhood before connecting to the Union Depot in downtown Saint Paul. Riders can access many destinations from Union Depot using other transit service like express buses, local buses, and METRO Green Line.
This board action amends the Regional Railroad Authority appointment on January 2, 2024 and Commissioner Xiong replaces Commissioner Frethem as the alternate to the Red Rock Corridor Commission.
