Background and Rationale

The Ramsey County Library Friends (Friends) is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting the Ramsey County Library in making information, books, music, and programs available to the public.
Each year the Friends give a gift to the Ramsey County Library to support a range of programs, services, and resources. For 2024, the Friends approved their annual gift with the following provisions:
• $130,000 for Collections and Programming
o $30,000 for Library Collections
o $100,000 for Library Programming

Fiscal Impact
The anticipated gift of $130,000 is not part of the Library’s approved 2024 budget. These funds will be placed in the Library’s Trust and Agency Fund and expended in alignment with the spirit and intent of the donation and in alignment with the vision, mission, and goals of Ramsey County.
Last Previous Action
On December 12, 2023, the Ramsey County Board accepted the 2023 gift of $130,000 from the Ramsey County Library Friends to the Ramsey County Library (Resolution B2023-229).
